Letter from the Chairman
Las Colinas Federal Credit Union + Texans Credit Union
To the Valued Members of Las Colinas Federal Credit Union:
I am writing to you today with excitement and confidence about the next chapter in our credit union’s proud legacy of service, which began in 1955 with a small group of Zale employees.
After careful consideration, the Board of Directors and I have unanimously approved a resolution to pursue a strategic partnership through merger with Texans Credit Union. We now ask for your important support as we move forward together.
This decision was not made lightly. We sought a partner that shares our commitment to being a true Force for Good and to operating with the highest integrity. In Texans Credit Union, we found that partner—an exceptionally led and highly successful organization dedicated to delivering greater value and a stronger future for you, our members.
What This Partnership Means for You
- This collaboration brings both immediate and long-term benefits that will enhance your membership experience:
- Expanded Access: A wider branch network across the DFW region and extended service hours.
- Enhanced Value: A stronger suite of loan and deposit products with competitive rates.
- Digital Excellence: Significant upgrades to online banking and digital services.
- Community Commitment: Texans CU will continue to support our Star Savers Educational Foundation, advancing critical childhood financial literacy.
Most importantly, we are committed to a smooth and seamless transition. The people you know and trust—our dedicated Las Colinas employees—will remain with the organization. They will be treated with care and provided excellent opportunities for professional growth within Texans Credit Union.
Your Vote Matters
This partnership can only move forward with approval from our membership. Enclosed you will find a ballot with instructions. I strongly urge you to vote YES to approve this merger. Your vote is a powerful step toward ensuring a stronger, more resilient future for your financial well-being.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for your trust, your loyalty, and your active participation in this defining moment for our credit union.
With deep gratitude,
John Chipps
Chairman of the Board
Las Colinas Federal Credit Union
Why are you merging with another credit union?
We believe Las Colinas Federal Credit Union (FCU) and Texans Credit Union (CU) complement each other’s strengths. By combining forces, merging into one entity, we can provide even more to members and make a powerful impact in our communities. We’ll also be able to provide greater conveniences with more locations, additional account options and services, and more opportunities for our employees.
Has Las Colinas Federal Credit Union been bought out?
Not at all! Both Las Colinas FCU and Texans CU collaborated, and we are asking our members to vote ”yes” to authorize this strategic partnership by merger and become one credit union. We believe we’re stronger together.
What will happen to the Las Colinas Federal Credit Union employees?
All the team members that have served you faithfully will continue to do so! There will be no job losses or layoffs as a part of this partnership. Las Colinas FCU members will also get to meet new smiling faces from Texans CU as we join forces.
Will our name be changed?
Once the merger is approved, Las Colinas FCU will continue under Texans Credit Union’s brand to signify our dedication and service to more Texas communities as we grow together. Las Colinas FCU has a rich history of partnering with credit unions to expand the benefits of credit union membership with more people across DFW.
Will my deposits and accounts continue to be safe?
Absolutely! There will not be a change to your protected funds. Both credit unions are administered by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), and your deposits will continue to be federally insured up to regulatory limits.
What new services are offered by Texans CU that Las Colinas FCU didn’t have?
Texans Credit Union offers new digital services like Zelle, Instant Payments, and a full-service Card Manager to customize debit and credit card alerts, spending limits and controls. They also have a full suite of accounts, loans, and credit cards. Once the combination of institutions is complete, Las Colinas FCU members will have access to all 11 Texans CU branches, as well as Texans expanded member service hours.
